Holiday Club
We hold an annual Holiday Club towards the end of the school summer holidays for children aged between 5 and 11, comprised of Bible stories, games, crafts, music and other activities.
This year's Holiday Club will be held from 27-31 August, 2007. A report of what happened at Holiday Club 2003 is available below. If you're interested in finding out more about our Holiday Clubs, either past, present or future, then please e-mail us.
Holiday Club 2003 Report!
HWEC Holiday Bible Club, an exciting, fun-filled four days for children and adults alike! This year, The Life of David was the theme and between 30-40 children had a great time listening carefully, answering questions and helping out with the stories about different aspects of David's unusual life! The children heard about David's anointing from God, his special friendship with Jonathan, his meeting with the giant, Goliath and how he treated a crippled man, Mephibosheth. They got stuck in doing quizzes, completing sentences, reading aloud and watching a wonderful multimedia presentation!

The battle David had with Goliath was a particular favourite story, more so for the fact that the children had been put into one of four teams (Colonels, Brigadiers, Generals or Majors): as they answered questions, they earned points for their team and each point meant their they saw their team's stone hurtling out of David's slingshot ever closer towards Goliath's forehead by way of a huge wallchart - which team would be able to hit Goliath first? The children soon realised that the best way to boost their team's score was to learn a memory verse from the day's story they had heard, to recite back as best they could the following morning!
An impressive array of art and craft activities was completed, lots of exciting colouring, sticking and shaping went on! Games were also played, when the energy-level and exuberance went up even further!
The children also learnt some fun songs along the way: S for Sin; We can't see God but we know He's there; From my knees to my nose; Only a boy called David; Come stand in line (so be like David, trust in God!) I wonder who can still remember the actions for some of these songs?

Finally, sadly, Holiday Bible Club drew to a close, but not before the fantastic presentation evening where the winning team was announced, special prizes for the best crafts were handed out and the children were able to perform the songs and show the things they had made to their parents. It was also a time to take a look around and try to spot yourself in one of the photographs taken during the week, all carefully arranged around the room. When the food and drink was brought out, it was the perfect end to a very busy week. All that remained was taking down the balloons, and there were quickly plenty of willing volunteers eager to take one of these to add to their photos, artwork and prizes they were taking home as a reminder of an extremely enjoyable week....
We look forward eagerly to next year...!!
