Fellowship focus 6 - April 1999

And finally...

At the early age of 3 days I was officially known as Anita, Mitzi Kamath. Anita because it was the only name both maternal and paternal grandparents didn't tut over. Mitzi, after a popular actress of the time. Then one happy day in October the Kamath changed to Beeden, ( not Kamath - Beeden as some work colleagues were aghast to discover). But in-between and since those times I continue to answer to Bushy, Boo, Anu .... the list goes on.

When I hear my names and nicknames I think of all the different things I am to different people. Wife, daughter, sister, friend...... this list also goes on ! At times isn't it just the hardest thing: balancing our many responsibilities? Who do we please first?

We, who are called by Jesus' name all know in our heads that he should be at the top of our priority list. But in our everyday lives, which relationship takes centre stage? Christians are children of the one true God. The God who created heaven and earth, the God who parted the Red Sea , the God who died for us, the God who continues to work out everything for the good of those who love him. When you look at him as he really is what earthly relationship could possibly compete?

Anita Beeden.
