Fellowship focus 1 - November 1996

Women's Fellowship

Greetings from the ladies of the women's fellowship! We meet on Tuesdays at 2 o'clock during school term times. This is a meeting for ladies of all ages bearing Titus 2:3-5 in mind. If you can only join us occasionally the please do so as this will be a real encouragement to us and, we hope, a blessing to you. If you have any questions about the women's fellowship, please contact us.

Toddler's Group

When one of our church walked unsuspectingly into the church building on a Monday morning some months ago, he was amazed at the sight that met his eyes. In place of the familiar congregation of the previous night, was a hall full of mothers and children with the accompanying cacophony of noise and activity.

He hurried hastily through!

Up to twenty mothers and sometimes grannies, with their accompanying children come into the church for an hour and a half on Monday morning to enjoy a chat and a cup of coffee. The children play with toys, do the weekly craft activity and join in a nursery rhyme song time. In this way six of us who help at the toddlers group, with the Lord's blessing, aim to provide a happy and friendly place where mothers with young children can relax, and most of all hear the good news about Jesus through our personal witness.

Over the two years that the toddler's group has been running, we have sought to bring the gospel to mothers, primarily through friendship with them: over 75% are from non-Christian religions. We have had talks on 'bringing up children' and a short series of home bible studies following it.

From this autumn, we are planning a monthly lunch followed by a short talk. We hope to address a number of topics of interest to mothers, from a Christian perspective. Our prayer is that this will lead to new openings of speaking naturally about Christ.

Esther.
