Now and then...
My memories of North Road Strict Baptist Chapel.
I was sent to the above chapel as a little child and to this day my heart is still there.
The Fromow family and others delivered gospel tracts every Sunday morning to the nearby homes. As they did this they would ask if there were any little children that would be able to come to Sunday school. This was the primary reason for the good number of children every Sunday. As these children got older they went to the Band of Hope every Wednesday.
Many of us at the age of 14 were baptised and became members of the church. We had children's outings in the summer, and, from time to time, tea parties.
When we went on an outing the little ones rode in the Fromows' horse and cart, whilst those who were able walked to the station.
North Road Baptist Chapel is still open for service, etc. They have a good pastor in Pastor Lindie.
God bless North Road Strict Baptist Chapel.
Elsie.
Sadly, for those who knew her, Elsie passed away early in 1999. Let us emulate her faith, share her desire to tell others the gospel, and look forward to the day, when if we too are Christ's, we will meet her in glory.
